Welcome To Leah Freeman.com

Leah FreemanThis website has been created by Leah's family as a tribute to Leah.  The website presents a synopsis on the life of Leah and does not attempt to draw any conclusions as to the guilt or innocence of any individuals.

The website does present some legal documents, in the form of affidavits and search warrants, which have been released  and are public information.  It should be noted there are literally volumes of information in the form of reports, affidavits and written statements which have yet to be released.  The information available here should not be viewed as the only information developed on this case.

Background

Leah Nicole Freeman was a bright, beautiful 15 year-old living with her loving family in Coquille, Oregon.  On June 28, 2000 Leah suddenly disappeared.  The case was initially treated as a "runaway".  The local police force did investigate and interview potential witnesses, but the case wasn't treated as a potential kidnapping or homicide until several days into the investigation.  Eventually, a special multi agency law enforcement task force was formed to investigate the case and organized a community wide search for Leah.

On August 3, 2000 Leah’s body was found in a secluded area on Lee Valley Road, approximately nine miles from home. She had been murdered. For the better part of a decade the only information Leah’s family had been given regarding her tragic death was that it was the result of “homicidal violence.”

In late 2009 a special volunteer task force was formed to review all the evidence that had been collected.  The task force was comprised of individuals with law enforcement backgrounds who were not part of the original investigation.  This task force's objective was to scrutinize the volumes of police reports, witness statements, physical evidence and affidavits with some “fresh eyes”.  As a result, more leads were developed, witnesses were re-interviewed and more potential witnesses were identified.
